A team of staff from the Port of Cork took part in a 25 mile charity cycle around beautiful Cork Harbour and helped raise over €2000 for Africa Direct, a voluntary organisation. The money raised will go towards supporting projects to improve the lives and future prospects of the poorest in Africa by funding local partners to build schools and houses.
Captain Pat Murphy, Port of Cork Community Liaison Officer said: “ This was a great opportunity to raise money for a well deserved charity, and what better way to do it than cycling around Cork harbour. We are very fortunate that we have the second largest natural harbour here in Cork for everyone to enjoy.”
Mr John Slattery, Africa Direct commented:“The harbour waterfront access makes for a beautiful cycle. Port of Cork and its staff have shown their appreciation with their great support and fundraising for Africa Direct.”
