Cork Docks set to Rock

Thursday 22 October 2009

Creative music experience Coors Light PEAK docks for its third stop at Cork’s Custom House Quay next Saturday 17th October. Brit rockers The Charlatans will be joined by visual mixmaster DJ Yoda and musical marvel R.S.A.G at this free music event.
Cork’s Custom House Quay will be transformed on the night as the custom built PEAK venue is shipped in for one night only. Specially constructed fromshipping containers the venue features the 40ft PEAK bar and the unique ‘icon’ stage which is flanked by massive shipping container screens that will feature specially created PEAK graphics and the work of local digital creatives.
One of the key bands to define 90’s Britain’s Manchester scene, The Charlatans are one of the few bands of the era to have continually developed their sound and lasted the distance. Their single The Only One I Know, was a classic example of the ‘baggy’ sound of the day but unlike most of their counterparts from the scene, the band developed their sound over the years and kept with the pace, releasing their tenth album, 'You Cross My Path' as a free download courtesy of Xfm.
Joining them is DJ Yoda, a pioneer in the art of VJ-ing (Video mixing). Taking the skills of a world class scratch DJ and applying them to DVD's, he is famous for cutting up well known movie and TV clips in time to a soundtrack of funk, hip-hop, 80’s classics and most recently country music.
R.S.A.G (Rarely Seen Above Ground) will join Coors Light on each step of the PEAK nationwide tour. The Kilkenny native was recently nominated for a Choice Music award and has since gone on to receive critical acclaim for his album Organic Sampler.
Coors Light PEAK has already docked in Limerick and Galway city before moving on to Cork, Waterford and Dublin. Cork music fanscan get a piece of the action by applying for FREE tickets on www.coorslightpeak.ie.
