This year the Port of Cork will sponsor the ‘Deep Sea Shipping Company of the Year Award 2009’ at the Export Industry Awards.
The objective of the awards, organised by the Irish Exporters Association, is to recognise outstanding achievement in the management of Deep Sea Shipping and its contribution in facilitating international trade to and from Ireland. The awards highlight the strategically significant role that Deep Sea Shipping plays in the islands economy.
Port of Cork Commercial Manager, Captain Michael McCarthy says: As Ireland’s primary deep water port, the Port of Cork has a long term focus on meeting the needs of deep sea shipping lines and understands the importance of growing the export market.’
He continued: ‘This is the first year sponsoring such an award and we are delighted to sponsor the Deep Sea Shipping Line Award for 2009. We look forward to supporting the growth of international trade for both current and future economic prospects.’
The award will be presented to the company which has made the most valuable contribution to the efficiency of the deep sea transport mode in Ireland. An awards ceremony will take place in Dublin on Thursday 26th November.
