Port of Cork staff, friends and family took part in a 25 mile charity cycle around beautiful Cork Harbour and helped raise €1500 for Africa Direct, a voluntary organisation. The money raised will go towards supporting projects to improve the lives and future prospects of the poorest in Africa by funding local partners to build schools and houses.
Captain Pat Murphy, Port of Cork Community Liaison Officer said: “This was a great opportunity to raise money for a well deserved charity, and what better way to do it than cycling around Cork harbour. At a time when money is scarce for charities, it was an excellent achievement by staff to raise such a great amount of money.”
He continued; “We are very fortunate that we have the second largest natural harbour here in Cork for everyone to enjoy.”
