Introduction
The Port of Cork Schools Initiative aims to educate primary school children on the history and workings of the Port of Cork and the associated maritime history of Cork Harbour. The initiative is run annually and is open to 5th class primary schools.
Each year a theme is chosen by the Port of Cork and primary schools are invited to submit a project. All projects go on public display in Custom House and all classes are awarded a certificate of participation and receive a harbour boat trip around Cork Harbour.
The overall winning school is treated to a tour onboard one of the luxury cruise liners which calls to Cork.
