Dinghy Yachts Port of Cork is the premier port on Ireland’s south coast offering sheltered deepwater facilities close to the main shipping lanes to Northern Europe, the Mediterranean and North America. The Port handles all five shipping modes, with annual traffic of some 10 million tonnes and is a key regional economic driver and employment generator.

The Port of Cork Company aim is to align our values and behaviour with the expectations and needs of our stakeholders.

Port of Cork is committed to the development of modern and efficient systems and recognises good Corporate Social Responsibility to be of equal importance to other prime business considerations. A Corporate Social Responsibility Forum has been established with three clear objectives:

  • Implement the Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy as a key business consideration.
  • Enhance Port of Cork Company’s environmental and social performance through proactive engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Prioritise employee welfare, health and safety and environmental protection through robust procedures compliant with sector best practice and relevant legislation.

To ensure that our objectives are achieved through a co-ordinated management system based on good corporate governance, Port of Cork is committed to:

  • Engaging with local communities in the wider Cork Harbour Region to advance Port of Cork’s Corporate Social Responsibility principles.
  • Complying with relevant legislation for health, safety and the environment through open and honest regulatory dialogue.
  • Enhancing the international reputation of the Cork Harbour Region as a unique natural environment available for sustainable development.
  • Providing best practice labour standards and employee welfare.
  • Developing Port of Cork as a Health and Safety champion in the ports and harbours sector.
  • Ongoing relationships with Port of Cork Company Tenants to prioritise social, environmental and other issues in the wider port community
  • Embracing new technologies and management systems to assess and minimise Port of Cork Company’s ‘carbon footprint’.

Ensuring appropriate ‘duty of care’ in respect of stakeholders, customers and suppliers.The Port of Cork Company Board and Management actively supports this policy.
