Port of Cork to Feature in Fly on the Wall Style Documentary

Following a hugely successful first series of ‘Cork Mega Port’ which aired last year, TV3 has commissioned a second series which features daily life in the Port of Cork. The fly on the wall style documentary series, which was once again produced by Goldhawk Media, will air on Sunday, 23d August at 5:15pm.

In series one, viewers saw snippets of the day-to-day operations of the 365 days a year, 24/7 port during the winter months and now in series two, Goldhawk Media follows the Port of Cork during its busiest spring and summer months from bringing 140,000 tonne cruise ships into Cork harbour to Dragon boat racing on the River Lee.

Viewers can expect to see some familiar faces and some new ones from pilots to launch crew, maintenance and engineering staff and many more varied and fascinating people that make up the Port of Cork’s unique and talented work force.

The series promises to give an exciting insight not just into the everyday operations of the Port and the people behind it, but also highlights the Port’s importance to the region and necessity as a gateway for trade both in and out of Munster.

Speaking about the second TV3 series ‘Cork Mega Port’, Port of Cork Chief Executive Brendan Keating said: “The response to the first series of ‘Cork Mega Port’ in 2014 was overwhelming and we heard so many positive comments both about our own people and the insight that viewers gained into the operations of our Port. We were delighted to work with Goldhawk media once again and I can safely say that the second series promises to be just as exciting”.

‘Cork Mega Port’ will air on TV3 commencing on Sunday, 23rd August at 5:15pm and on the following dates:

Sunday, 30th August - 5:10pm
Sunday, 6th September - 6:15pm
Sunday, 13th September - 6:15pm

Don’t miss it!

About TV3

Launched in 1998, TV3 is the largest commercial channel in Ireland with an 8% market share for Adults 15+. The channel reaches over 2.5 million individuals each week and over 3.4 million individuals each month. TV3 has a bigger market share for Adults 15+ than BBC1, Channel 4, Sky 1 & E4 combined. TV3 Group continues to differentiate itself through an emphasis on Irish and home produced programming, and in 2015 more than 50% of its current schedule will be produced in Ireland. The development of the brand new Sony HD Studio has allowed for the production of bigger formats and even better content for distribution – giving scope for greater impact in the international market. TV3 employs over 250 people fulltime and a further 130 people on its new soap drama ‘Red Rock’ which was launched in January 2015. Today, TV3 Group has firmly established itself as the leader in TV entertainment in Ireland. While TV3 strikes the perfect balance between light hearted fun, home-grown daytime viewing and authentic original programming, its sister channel 3e, targets a slightly younger audience. The station’s Adults 15-34 share is bigger than BBC1, Comedy Central, E4 and Sky1.
